Assassin’s Creed sold 73 million copies since its inception

The sales figures from Ubisoft have been updated and it looks like Assassin’s Creed is still their top selling franchise. As of April 2014, the series has sold more than 73 million units since its inception back in November 2007. Assassin’s Creed currently consists of seven titles, with the next game in the series rumored to be out by the end of the year. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s successor is said to arrive in two parts, namely AC Unity and AC Comet.

The next Assassin’s Creed title is expected to make an appearance at E3 which is scheduled for June. So far we know that the game will take place in Paris during the French Revolution and that it centers around Arno, a new male assassin. Many of the details are still unknown but we expect Ubisoft to shed some more light on the title at this year’s expo

Other successful series produced by the company include Just Dance with 48 million copies sold, Splinter Cell with 30 million, while Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon only managed to sell 26, respectively 25 million units. It’s surprising to see two other popular series that are just middle-of-the-road sales-wise. Prince of Persia sold just 20 million copies, while the Far Cry series only managed 18 million.
