HTC One Mini 2 Announced – Tech Specs here!

HTC has just announced the successor to HTC One Mini. It is called HTC One Mini 2 (how original), and it incorporates the design lines of the HTC One M8 into a more compact form factor. It seems that the Taiwanese company wants to give users the choice of size and capabilities when it come to the One line of products, but should you opt for the Mini version?

Let’s take a look at the specs:

• 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.5 inches (~326 ppi pixel density)

Those expecting to have the same performance as the bigger, more expensive HTC One M8 in a small case will be disappointed, because the One Mini 2 is clearly less powerful. There’s a quad-core Snapdragon 400 at 1.2 GHz, only 1 GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 720p screen. None of these are specs that blow people away, and we’ve seen plenty of mid-ranged smartphones with similar configurations.

What’s attractive in this case is the design, almost identical to the one used for M8. Unfortunately, other great functions like the secondary back camera have not made the cut when designing the Mini 2. On top of android 4.4.2 KitKat there’s the same Sense 6 UI as was the case with the flagship device. It’s sad though that the smaller phone is just a minor upgrade to the Mini launched last year. It’s more curious still that they call this a “mini”, when the screen size is 4.5 inches, a screen size that’s still used with many “normal” terminals.

The HTC One Mini 2 will come in the same 3 color that its bigger brother was launched: Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver Amber Gold, and is expected to launch in June.
