Metro Redux will be released on August 28 according to Amazon

A suspicious listing of Metro Redux has recently been spotted on Amazon. What’s so suspicious about it you ask? Well, aside from the fact that no official announcement has been made by 4A Games or Deep Silver, the listing only appears on the Spanish version of the website. Is it possible that Spain knows something the rest of the world doesn’t?

In any case, assuming the information is correct Metro Redux will be released on the 28th of August. The website lists Xbox One as the only release platform, but it was previously confirmed that the compilation will be available for the PS4 as well. Amazon also posted a box art cover, but mentions that it’s just provisional and most likely subject to change.

Metro Redux was indeed confirmed on the 31st of March, but details have been scarce until now. Deep Silver talked a bit about the compilation in a letter that mentions this will be 4A Games’ first next-gen consoles project. “Is Metro Redux real? Yes. We never made any secret of 4A’s desire to bring Metro to the latest generation of console hardware.”

The letter denies that the previously leaked artwork has anything to do Metro Redux but says it’s related to Metro 2033. “Eagle eyed fans will recognize the artwork on the ‘packshot’ as the art from the original Russian edition of the Metro 2033 novel. And that ‘logo’ is just the old Metro 2033 logo with the ‘2033’ scrubbed out and ‘Redux’ added…”

Deep Silver says the project is not yet ready to be unveiled but confirms that Metro Redux will make an appearance at E3 2014. Furthermore, the big reveal will be much more exciting than any leaks, according to the letter. “As you can see, we’re not quite ready to reveal 4A Games’ first next-gen console project, but we will be making an announcement this side of E3. And we think the reality is a lot more exciting than the out-dated material that got leaked shows, and we’re itching to share it with you. Just not yet.”

Metro Redux will be a compilation of the first two Metro games, namely Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. Aside from rumors, we only know for sure that it will be available for the Xbox One and PS4, and that more details will be revealed at E3. Stay tuned as we’ll be keeping you up to date as soon as we learn something new.
