ShareFile for iPhone is now available on the app store

Recently a very useful service called ShareFile has become available on the iPhone, and you can now download it from the App Store. Citrix ShareFile is a secure way of sending and storing files over the internet. The last thing you want to do is just grab an attachment, throw it into the email, and send it out into the open internet. Why? Because all of these are not exactly secure. They can also be problematic for other reasons. For example if your attachment is large, let’s say more than 2-3 GB, that’s too much for most corporate firewalls so you’re not going to get through. It’s going to get blocked and you may or may not be notified that it’s been blocked. As you can see, there is a lot of uncertainty about sending big files around on the internet.

With ShareFile you can simply upload your file to a secure server and send a secure link and that gives you a lot of information and control over it. You can password-protect your file for maximum security, and you can decide who has access to the files, and for how long. You can even say how many times they can download it. For example, you can say “I want this one person to be able to access this one file for only one week and they can only download it three times”. That kind of control is available through ShareFile and I’m guessing that you want that kind of control, and also that information. When you send a file to somebody, you want to know when they have downloaded it. Maybe you want to call them or send them and email and talk about whatever it is you sent them after they have seen it. You don’t have to spend a lot of time asking them things like “did you see it?” or “did you open it?”.

There are two main reasons to use Citrix ShareFile. One of them is sending very large files, the other is sending files securely. If you use ShareFile, all the risks, hassles, and uncertainty of sharing files with other people via e-mail will be a thing of the past. The cloud-based service was built with businesses in mind and is used by graphic designers, architects, and professional from other industries. ShareFile has been around since 2007 but has been recently catching on and has more than 6 million users as of August, 2012.
