Xbox One launches this September in Japan with 29 games

The Xbox One has been available in North America, Europe, Australia, and Brazil since November 22nd and today Microsoft announced that it will also be launched in Japan on September 4th. The console is already available for pre-order through multiple Japanese retailers and comes in three varieties. The regular Kinect version, the Kinect-free Xbox One, and the Day One edition, which includes Titanfall and Kinect Sports Plus. The Xbox 360 didn’t do so well in Japan, but Microsoft thinks the Xbox One will be quite successful. In order to make sure of this, the company has announced that 29 titles will be available on the console’s release date. This list is subject to change and more games might be added at a later time.

Japan is the birthplace of Sony and Nintendo so this market has been generally rather unwelcoming to foreign companies. Microsoft wants to change all that by offering services aimed at core gamers and a lot of Japanese developers including Sega, Namco Bandai, Capcom, Square Enix and Platinum Games are supporting them. A lot of titles from these companies are scheduled to be released for the Xbox One in the future. The most promising of them seem to be Scalebound, a new IP from Platimum Games, the Phantom Dust reboot, and Crackdown. These three titles have all been revealed at Microsoft’s E3 press conference and are likely to receive a lot of hype in the following months.

The Xbox One vs PS4 battle seems to be taking a very strange turn and Microsoft looks more determined than ever to prove that they cam offer the better console. However, the latest reports indicate that Sony is still in the lead for the fifth consecutive month so this will certainly be an uphill battle for the Redmond-based company. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any further developments and we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we learn something important so stay tuned.
