First real photo of the metallic framed Samsung Galaxy F emerges

We’ve already seen a few alleged Samsung Galaxy F pictures these last few weeks, but nothing that could convince us that we were looking at the actual device. Today’s photo however is a little bit different. The up close and personal image you can see below was sent to GSMArena by an anonymous source and confirms a major feature that was rumored since the beginning: the metallic frame. Samsung Galaxy F is a premium version of the company’s current flagship, Galaxy S5, which as we all know is made out of plastic. A metal frame premium version is certainly a sight for sore eyes especially since the device is meant to compete with the recently released LG G3, which also comes with a metallic body.

Unfortunately we can’t see the whole device is this picture, but the article mentions that the front looks very similar to the regular Samsung Galaxy S5. The frame however seems to be very reminiscent of the iPhone 5. The removable back cover of the Galaxy F is reportedly still made out of plastic so design-wise, the smartphone differentiates itself from Samsung’s current flagship only through the metal frame as far as we can tell.

In regards to the specs, there’s nothing confirmed so far, but rumor has it that the Galaxy F will come equipped with a Super AMOLED 5.1-inch QHD display running at 2560 x 1440 resolution and packing a very impressive pixel density of 576. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S5 also comes with a 5.1-inch display, but only features 1920 x 1080 resolution and 432 PPI. The LG G3 on the other hand does match the Galaxy F’s screen in all aspects except the pixel count, which only numbers 534. Another big improvement in terms of specs is revealed as soon as we take a peak under the hood.

The Samsung Galaxy F is said to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and a quad core 2.5 GHz Krait 450 processor to boot. The device is also rumored to come with an Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of RAM, and run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LG G3 feature Snapdragon 801 chipsets, 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processors, Adreno 330 GPUs, and still run on Android 4.4.2. The G3 does have a 3GB RAM version so the Galaxy F doesn’t really win that particular battle. It does win the overall war however and not only against those two smartphones, but also against most other flagships currently available.

The release date for Samsung Galaxy F is rumored to be around Q4 of this year but no specific date was mentioned. In terms of price, there hasn’t been a lot of speculation yet, but we can safely assume that it will be quite a bit more expensive than the Galaxy S5. Keep in mind to take these rumors with a grain of salt for the time being although the picture at least does indeed seem to be real. We’ll let you know as soon as we learn something new so stay tuned.
