Nokia Lumia 930 users experiencing purple tint display issues

The highly anticipated Nokia Lumia 930 was just launched yesterday both across Europe and the US. Overall, the latest flagship is a great addition to Nokia’s lineup and is certain to be well received around the word. However, currently there is a particular issues that many users have started complaining about. It seems that the display shows a very strange purple tint when the screen should naturally be black. Luckily this doesn’t seem to be a hardware issue but rather a calibration one and there is an easy fix for it. All you need to do in order to get it back to normal is to go to the Settings menu, then under Display you will find the Adjust Color option. Just move the Tint slider from neutral to Green and you’re pretty much done.

Reports suggest that this issue is mostly visible only when your Lumia 930’s brightness is set to low. The problem still persists a bit on medium setting although it’s not very noticeable. You wont see the purple tint at all if you set the brightness to high, but you’d be better off just trying the fix we mentioned above. At any rate, given that the device was just released, any small problem is likely to seem more annoying than it actually is so a permanent fix from Nokia (or should we call it Nokia by Microsoft now?) would be ideal.

Fortunately the company is well aware of the display issue and is looking to fix it as we speak. The official statement is as follows: “Microsoft Devices is taking quality issues on our products very seriously. To address the possible concerns with Lumia 930 display, we have recalled some test samples from …the Norwegian market to be investigated further in our R/D site in Finland. Thanks for the understanding. Microsoft Care.” Hopefully they will be able to get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later so that Nokia Lumia 930 owners can fully enjoy their new device.

As for the flagship itself, the Lumia 930 comes equipped with  5-inch 1920 x 1080 display with ClearBlack technology. Under the hood we find a quad-core Snapdragon 800 @ 2.2 GHz processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage memory, 20MP primary camera with OIS, 1.2MP secondary, and 2420 mAh baterry. The device runs on the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system and is priced at around $600-700 unlocked. Stay tuned as we bring you all the latest news and updates.
