Wasteland 2 pushed back until early September

inXile Entertainment announced that Wasteland 2 will no longer be released later this month as it was previously scheduled. The game has been delayed until early September “due to fulfillment of the physical goods and discs.” A new release date hasn’t been revealed yet, but an announcement should be made sometime in the near future. Fortunately, the company also has some good news to share with Wasteland 2 backers. A new update for the Steam Early Access version of the game has been released. The update not only comes with a host of tweaks and improvements, but also introduces some new features. The full list of additions includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Huge balance pass across all elements of the game
  • Enemy AI/Enemy Stats/Damage/Weapons/Dropsets/Skill Use
  • Added a mini-map
  • Lots of new optimizations to memory and load times
  • Tons of new UI improvements (visual and functional)
  • New audio added across the board (weapons/enemies/ambient/player events)
  • Large visual effects pass in all levels
  • Oh-so-much general clean-up/polish and iteration

inXile also mentions that this is most likely the final update before Wasteland 2 is released. However, when the game launches there will be day one update for physical disk backers and if your copy of the game is in digital format, the download will include the final game as well as the day one update. “This has been a labor of love from the entire team and I’m incredibly proud with what they have achieved. So much of their personalities are found around each corner in the game. We hope you enjoy the attention to detail in the world we all have created.
