Xiaomi MIUI 6 revealed – beta testers wanted
Xiaomi has announced the launch of the Xiaomi MIUI 6 for August 16 and many have been hyped about the update which will be based on Android Kitkat. After the launch event, the company has called for beta testers to apply.
The MIUI 6 will be a new Android firmware and advertises itself as “visually stunning and stunningly simple” and promises optimization of functions and user interface, integration of content, ecosystem and internet services. The UI comes as a novelty for those using Xiaomi smartphones, but informs that the MIUI 6 will be available for other brands as well, such as LG, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, Oppo and ZTE.
When Xiaomi launched the MI4, the company expected it to become widely popular due to its excellent specs and beautiful design. Users who had bought the MI4 complained that the user interface was cluttered, too colorful and a bit childish. In response to these inefficiencies reported by MI fans, Xiaomi decided to update the MIUI from v5 to v6, which looks wonderful and mature from the screenshots that have been popping up online.
The MI4 was launched as a flagship smartphone with a 5 inch 1080*1920 pixel IPS screen with 441 ppi pixel density. The flagship is available for $320 in its 16 GB internal memory version and for $400 in its whopping 64 GB version. The phone runs a Snapdragon 801, Quad core 2.5 Krait CPU and sports a 13 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera. Sadly, the phone has not yet been released world-wide, available for purchase exclusively in China as far as we know, but we are excited to see it coming closer in the next few months or 2015 the latest. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on it.
The Xiaomi MIUI6 looks completely redesigned and gives off a more tidy and pleasant feeling to the user than the MIUI v5. The radio app. compass and speaker graphics look great and inspire towards a more organized UI. The update will supposedly be available for those who own earlier devices than the MI4, which comes as a nice surprise for those who have purchased the MI3 or MIPad.
The company has announced that after the launch event, beta testers will be wanted to provide feedback on the MIUI v6 and you can also apply, if you are in the possession of a MI3 or Mi4 and are a loyal member of the MIUI forums. Xiaomi is rising fast, surpassing even Samsung as the leading smartphone seller in China, so we expect their expansion to happen hard and fast. The company seems to be a worthy opponent against the companies on the U.S. market at the moment.
