iWatch release might be delayed to 2015

We’ve been expecting some details to emerge about the iWatch for some time now, hoping that we would be pleasantly surprised with an early Autumn release. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite get the rumors we were hoping for, instead, we found out that the iWatch unveiling will surely be delayed. Sources say that a 2015 release is much more likely now.

The delay has to do with Apple’s suppliers and manufacturers, rumors stating that suppliers will only begin shipping components to Apple sometime in September. This means that the actual assembly of the iWatch cannot start until September, imminently putting of the launch date of the gadget as well. Besides the fact that manufacture and assembly has been delayed, testing and manufacturing issues that might intervene during manufacture will contribute to the time spent tweaking the gadget for the end consumers.

Apple was initially planning to manufacture 10 million iWatch units by the end of the year, but fact of the matter is that manufacturers will only be able to put out only about 1 million units per month. Taking manufacturing issues into consideration, there still exists the possibility of launching the iWatch this year, but if that would be the case, supply would be very limited, much less than what Apple was intially hoping for.

Originally, the iWatch was supposed to be launched in October during a special event, but in light of the new information, that event might even get postponed, although that is just a rumor. The iWatch will supposedly sport biometrics and a screen between 1.7  and 2.5 inches. We expect to see versatility in the smarwatch design as well, such as multiple watch faces and bands made out of different materials. A sapphire crystal display might also be available and the device will function independently and dependently on an iOS device. Full iOS integration will be available on the smartwatch as well. The iWatch will probably feature wireless charging, advanced mappign, NFC, health metrics and a multitude of sensors.

It remains to be seen whether manufacture will be able to keep up with consumer demand and when the launch event will occur, although we do hope the October event will be left standing.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
