Styx: Master of Shadows gets a new trailer and a release date

Cyanide’s game, “Styx: Master of Shadows” gets a gameplay trailer. The trailer shows some of the assassination skills present in the game and revealed that Styx will be released in October for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Styx: Master of Shadows is a stealth action game in which players need to use their skills to infiltrate buildings and kill enemies undetected. The game is a prequel to Orcs and Men, set in the same universe as the Cyanide’s previous game. Basically, the story follows Styx, the first Goblin, as he tries to steal the heart of a World-Tree. That item is enclosed in the Tower of Akenash. Styx has to use his three main abilities: stealth, theft and murder to progress through the tower. The protagonist has to get past of the Humans and Elves who are protecting the Tree. During this adventure, Styx learns more of his true origins.

Through the trailer, players can see some of Styx’s skills, how he uses stealth, his weapons, bold moves and the environment to get rid of the enemies. As you get more and more skilled in playing the game, you will be able to progress faster from level to level and it will be easier for you to go through levels undetected. Styx is armed only with his dagger and a few throwing knives for long range encounters. You need to rely more on the protagonist’s small scale and athletic skills to defeat the enemies. The environment can also be used as a weapon against the Human and Elf guardians. You can push people off ledges, pull them by the legs to the gallows, or leap from huge heights in Assassin’s Creed style and slit their throats. You can also drop crates on enemies or poison their drinking water.

In a nutshell, Styx: Master of Shadows is a stealth action game developed by Cyanide and published by Focus Home Interactive. The game is made using Unreal Engine 3 and it will be released for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One this October. You can find more information on the game, plus several screenshots and gameplay videos on the official site.

About Crisan Mircea

I'm a journalism graduate and an occasional gamer. As a kid I used to own a NES clone called "Terminator 2", which was hugely popular in my country. I like old school games and adventure games but I occasionaly play RPG's and Shooters as well, though I wouldn't call myself an expert at these kinds of games. When I'm not writing or playing games I prefer reading detective or fantasy novels.
