HTC Nexus 9 will release early next month according to a source close to the matter

Earlier this month HTC announced that it will be hosting a “Double Exposure” event on October 8th and rumor has it that a GoPro competitor camera will be revealed then. However, apparently this camera will only be one of the main attractions as the HTC Nexus 9 is also said to be unveiled at this event. While this info seems to come from a source close to the matter we still advise you to take this with a grain of salt for now. But until now pretty much all the important devices of the year were leaked well before an official announcement so it wouldn’t be that strange if this turns out to be true. In any case, let’s take a look at what the source had to say about the HTC Nexus 9.

Just as its name implies, the device will feature a 9-inch display. Although the source didn’t mention anything about the resolution, the HTC Nexus 9 is expected to feature a 1080p screen if rumors are to be believed. Under the hood we should find something along the lines of 3 GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage memory with microSD support good for up to 128 GB additional storage, 100 GB of Google Cloud for two years and a powerful Nvidia Tegra K1 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. There is no news regarding the battery or other important specs, but this is enough to get a general idea about the HTC Nexus 9. The main attraction here will definitely be the Tegra K1 processor, which is expected to make short work of any would be competitors.

As for the operating system, the source says that the HTC Nexus 9 will not run on Android L so we should see Android 4.4.4 KitKat unless another version comes out until then. Generally speaking, Nexus devices have been first in line to receive the latest updates so we can expect the HTC Nexus 9 to upgrade shortly after the final build is released. So far we only know that Android L will come out later this year, but we don’t have a specific date or indeed full name yet. There is evidence that Android L will end up being called Android Lemon Meringue Pie, but the Android Lollipop still option seems to be on the table as well.
