HTC One M8 Max to rival the Galaxy Note 4

HTC has had plenty of attention with the release of the HTC One M8 and its cheaper brother, the HTC One E8, as well as the Windows version of the One M8 and the first 64 bit smartphone, the HTC Desire 820. Nonetheless, HTC is said to be struggling with revenue and market share and other products like the medical gadgets dubbed the HTC Tricorder suite are rumored to come as an attempt to expand the HTC business.

The HTC One M8 selfie-version with a 13 MP dual camera and the HTC Eye camera mount are set to be released on October 8, at HTC’s Double Exposure event, but it seems that HTC will not stop there and will introduce a phablet version of the HTC One M8 as well. The HTC One M8 Max is supposedly a 5.5 inch handset which is set to compete against the likes of the Galaxy Note 4, iPhone 6 Plus, OnePlus One and underdogs like the Meizu MX4 and Huawei Ascend Mate 7.

The HTC One M8 Max or Prime, as it has been rumored so far, will probably get an official launch date by the end of the year and those who enjoy the sturdy HTC One M8, but would like a bigger screen to work with, should be delighted at this news. Supposedly, the HTC One M8 Max will feature a 5.5 inch 2560*1440 resolution and an 18 MP rear shooter featuring optical image stabilization. The device will run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.5 overlaid and will include a quad core Snapdragon 805 CPU clocked at 2.7 GHz, backed by 3 GB RAM and a 3000 mAH battery.

We expect the HTC One M8 Max to benefit from the same sturdy, yet attractive aluminium design with a metallic shine and solid build quality. It would be a well-received upgrade to the HTC One M8 and a very likely one, too, since HTC hasn’t released any phablet variations of the flagship, albeit limited editions and cheaper editions were already introduced to the market. Since the last phablet from HTC, the HTC One Max, didn’t fare as well as the company had hoped, we’re sure that this new attempt will be a more refined device and will sit better with customers.

Take into consideration that these are still just rumors and HTC hasn’t said anything about an HTC One M8 Max or Prime device in the works, although there have been many rumors flying around for a few months now. Nonetheless, some have suspected that the HTC One M8 Max might not be a real device and its release and development might have been dropped by the company, but we hope they’re wrong and we’ll see the phablet pop up in stores by the holidays. Would you like to have a phablet-sized HTC One M8 or are you content with the current versions?

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
