Nexus 6 specs, release date and price leaked

Google is supposedly planning a big event for October 16, when the widely anticipated Motorola Nexus 6 will be launched, possibly alongside the HTC Nexus 9 tablet. There have been many rumors and leaks flying around about the Nexus 6, with one common feature:it’s going to be a powerhouse. Motorola is becoming more and more active in the smartphone and wearable business as well, with the Nexus 6, Motorola Droid Turbo, Moto X 2014, Moto G and Moto 360 announcements and launches.

The Nexus 6 is the newest Google Nexus device and Google is probably planning to crush the competition with it. The company probably hopes that the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 4, HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z3 and Lumia Icon won’t be a match for the popularity the Nexus 6 will be receiving upon its launch, and Google might be spot-on. There has been tremendous hype surrounding the device and people are more than excited to see what Google and Motorola have prepared for them.

The Nexus 6 looks like the critically acclaimed Motorola Moto X, with a similar design and Motorola logo on the back. Android L will be pre-loaded on the new flagship, Google syncing the Android L release with the Nexus 6 release. This time, Verizon might also sell the Nexus 6, besides the Google Play Store. Rumor has it that other carriers will also have Nexus 6 units up for sale, but for now, only Verizon is the for sure option.

The newest set of rumored Nexus 6 specs include a 5.9 inch QHD display with 498 ppi, which might be well-received by some and criticized by others. Many were content with the smaller, 5 inch screen on the Nexus 5 and might dislike the phablet-sized Nexus 6. Nonetheless, phablets have been quite popular lately, with the iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge releases.

The Nexus 6 will sport a Snapdragon 805 CPU and 3 GB RAM, beside a 13 MP rear camera with optical image stabilization and a ring-flash, and 3200 mAH battery. It’s a bit disappointing to learn that there will be no 64-bit support on the Nexus 6, but the device will still run Android 5.0 L (Lemon Meringue Pie, Lollipop, Lion), just the 32 bit version. A fingerprint sensor is also a likely feature to see on Shamu, along with fast charging similar to that on the Motorola Moto X.

Google might be introduced yet another new feature into the Nexus 6, called Google Fit, and will encompass health monitoring platform much like Apple’s HealthKit. There have been various Nexus 6 leaked images flying around, but the most prevalent model shows a Nexus 6 similar to the Moto X 2014. The Nexus 6 price will probably be similar to that of the Nexus 5 when it was launched, keeping Google’s tradition of offering actually affordable stock Android devices to the public.

Google’s newest smartphone has even been spotted on public transportation, although we’re not sure those pictures are real, even though Android L can be seen and the Nexus 6 front facing speaker which has been previously rumored does make an appearance, too. In any case, Nexus 6 shouldn’t be far away, so be patient and wait for Google to tell us more about the new flagship.

Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
