Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s Alpha arrives in a few weeks

Designer Daniel Vávra has recently announced via a video update that developer Warhorse Studios’ upcoming non-fantasy open-world role-playing game – Kingdom Come: Deliverance – will enter in its Alpha state on October 22nd. Vavra has revealed that said stage will be fairly limited, including one location – a small village – where players can wander around, check out the NPCs’ life-cycle, as well as completing several “mini quests”. However, the Alpha won’t include combat or horse riding, as these two features are still early in their development cycle. Warhorse has also stated that it plans to update said stage every two months. The Alpha will be available for testing via Steam.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming role-playing title set in the 15th century medieval Central Europe, with a focus on historically accurate and realistic content. The game features a single-player experience with branching quest lines and a highly interactive world encouraging emergent exploration. Kingdom Come: Deliverance will feature period-accurate armour and clothing, combat techniques, and real-world castles recreated with the assistance of architects and historians. The game will also contain period music recorded by Czech masters that were taken note for note from medieval song books.

On January 22nd, 2014, Warhorse Studios launched a crowd-funding campaign via Kickstarter with the goal of generating £300,000, ten percent of the $5,000,000 budget, in order to prove to an investor that there exists an audience and desire for their game. On February 20th, 2014, the fund was completed, raising a total of £1,106,371. Even after the end of the Kickstarter campaign, the crowd-funding was continued through the studio’s web-pages. On October 1st, 2014, Daniel Vávra has announced through youtube video that the game had raised $2.002.547 from total of 38784 backers.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is scheduled for a Q4 release in 2015 on the PC, OS X, and Linux. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have been confirmed as well for a later date.
