Asus ZenWatch price and release date leak

We first saw the Asus ZenWatch at the IFA Berlin conference last month and it seemed like on of the best smartwatches at the convention. The Asus ZenWatch is already pretty popular because of its low $180 price tag and sleek design. The Asus ZenWatch stands out of the crowd because from among the square and rectangular smartwatches that you can currently find on the market, it’s probably the most classy one, thanks to its design.

The Asus ZenWatch was originally introduced with a Fall release date and newest rumors confirm that suspicion, saying that the Asus ZenWatch will be released in November. We don’t know an exact launch date, but we did come across information stating that the ZenWatch will be hard to get. It seems like the wearable market in general is having issues, since Apple’s Apple Watch will also encounter manufacturing problems on account of its sapphire screen manufacturer’s bankruptcy. The Moto 360 has also been out of stock in many places after the first week of sales, but you can now buy it again, in the UK at least. The Asus ZenWatch is also rumored to be launched in a limited number, so you might want to keep an eye out if you want to get it on the deal when it’s first launched.

The Asus ZenWatch will be running Android Wear and its design has been called impressive because it sports a leather strap and a smooth, rectangular watch face, similar to that on the Apple Watch we’ve seen at the Flint Center on September 9. The Asus ZenWatch will sport an AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 encased in a rose gold aluminium body. Asus’ own ZenUI is said to be featured on top of Android Wear and will automatically unlock your phone. Tap Tap and Find My Phone are going to be pre-loaded on the device, as well as a remote camera trigger. Much like the Moto 360, you can cover the display and the call it’s displaying will be muted. The Presentation Control feature will also enable the Asus ZenWatch to be used in presentations. A wellness manager will also be included, measuring steps, calories, activity duration, heart rate, exercise intensity and relaxation level.

The Asus ZenWatch is powere by a Snapdragon 400 CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz, backed by 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. The AMOLED display measures 1.63 inches and has a 320*320 resolution with 278 ppi pixel density. There will be a 9 Axis sensor and a Bio sensor built-in, along with Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB port for charging and a microphone. The battery will be a 1.4 Wh one and the watch will be IP55 certified. Even though the Wellness app is said to measure heart rate, there is no mention of a heart rate sensor.

We are eager to see how the Asus ZenWatch will fare in terms of battery life and how the ZenUI will perform on Android Wear. Even if the November release date is a sure thing, we expect to see only a few dozen Asus ZenWatch units on sale, due to the limited supply. We could be wrong, so take the news with a grain of salt. For all we know, there might not be a supply shortage and the ZenWatch could be launched in full bloom, everywhere. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
