Battlefield 4 ruined our trust in the series but Battlefield Hardline wants to earn it back

Battlefield 4 launched in a less than ideal state and developer DICE has been trying to make things right ever since by releasing one update after another. However, the damage has already been done and many players have lost their trust in the developer and its ability to smoothly launch a game. DICE is well aware of this fact and doesn’t want to repeat the process with Battlefield Hardline, a title that’s meant to earn back our trust in DICE and the series. Producer David Sirland admitted in a recent interview that mere words will not accomplish this goal but DICE plans on proving that it can actually deliver on the promise.

“I can absolutely say that we lost [player] trust in the game’s launch and the early parts of the year,” Sirland told Gamespot. “We still probably have a lot of players who won’t trust us to deliver a stable launch or a stable game. I don’t want to say anything because I want to do. I want them to look at what we’re doing and what we are going to do and that would be my answer. I think we have to do things to get them to trust us, not say things to get them to trust us. Show by doing. I am certain that [Battlefield 4’s troubled launch] won’t be repeated because we’ve changed the way we work.”

As you may or may not know, DICE is in fact not the main developer for Battlefield Hardline and most of the work is being done by Visceral Games. However, the latter also made a very similar statement when it promised last month that unlike Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline will not be buggy at launch. The game has recently been delayed until 2015 in order to give the developer more time to ensure that we truly get a smooth launch. Battlefield Hardline will be released in February 2015 on the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
