Omate Lutetia is a smartwatch for women

Although the wearable market, especially the smartwatch market, has progressed a lot in the past year, with stylish releases like the Moto 360, LG G Watch R and Samsung Gear S, we have to acknowledge that all of these smartwatch try to be unisex. With that in mint, we can say that the watches we can find on the market at the moment are still a bit too bulky and techy for most fashion-conscious women’s tastes and Omate intends to change that with the new Lutetia smartwatch.

Not to say that the Moto 360 or the upcoming Apple Watch do not cater to women, but they are not specifically designed for them. The Omate Lutetia on the other hand, seems to put women’s preferences first and came up with a round smartwatch that will surely catch today’s fashionistas’ eyes. The Omate team in charge of the Lutetia smartwatch is made up of women who have been busying themselves in engineering and developing the Omate Lutetia with the goal of catering to women more than men.

The Omate Lutetia smartwatch is designed similarly to the Moto 360, with the same black bar at the bottom of the display, housing valuable hardware necessary for the timepiece. The Omate LUtetia has an always-on LCD display, covered with a curved sapphire glass, making it as durable as the Apple Watch. The Omate Lutetia is also made out of stainless steel with matching watchbands. The timepiece is powered by MediaTek’s Aster MT2502 platform and runs on Nucleus RTOS which allows the Omate Lutetie to last for a full week. You will be able to pair the new Omate watch to an Android or iOS device, so ladies out there can get their hands on the timepiece without having to worry about what kind of smartphone they should pair it with.

The Omate Lutetia is more of a notification watch, but it also offers a pedometer, music playback, voice control features, stopwatch as well as weather forecasts. The Omate Lutetia measures 12 mm in thickness and 40 mm in width, so it’s actually smaller than the Moto 360, although it’s still not as small as most female wristwatches. You can already pre-order the Omate Lutetia for just $170 on the Omate website. The watches are expected to begin shipment sometime in December. What do you think about the Omate Lutetia? Would it be a better choice for women than the Moto 360?
