The Meizu MX4 is about to get a bit more glamorous as the company announced a gold version for its latest flagship smartphone. This variant was announced earlier today at a Flyme + YunOS presentation held in China where it was also revealed that pre-orders for the gold version will begin tomorrow. Meizu also said that only 10.000 Meizu MX4 gold units will be put on sale and they will only be available in China, at least initially. The device is very popular in the country so it’s likely that all the units will be sold in no time, but here’s hoping that at least a few of them remain by the time the device launches globally.
We still don’t know when the Meizu MX4 will end up being available outside of China, but its manufacturer says that details regarding the matter will be revealed soon. As for the gold variant, it’s identical in all aspects aside from color to the silver model. The Meizu MX4 comes equipped with a 5.4-inch display complete with 1152 x 1920 resolution, 418 pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Hardware-wise, we’re looking at a MediaTek chipset with octa-core processor (quad-core Cortex-A17 @2.2 GHz and quad-core Cortex A7 @ 1.7 GHz), 2 GB of RAM and 3,100 mAh battery. The Meizu MX4 also features a 20.7 MP primary camera along with a 2 MP secondary shooter and 16/32/64 GB internal storage memory options without microSD support. The device currently runs on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system.
You can start pre-ordering the smartphone starting tomorrow from Taobao, Tmall and Weibo from 10 AM. In case you’re not interested in the gold version, don’t worry because the Meizu MX4 also comes in silver and white colors. Again, this only applies if you happen to be living in China. We’ll let you know as soon as we learn anything regarding the international release date so stay tuned.
