Metallica is playing live at BlizzCon 2014
BlizzCon has always been pretty awesome, but this year’s edition is shaping up to be downright epic. Blizzard Entertainment announced today that it has invited the legendary heavy metal band Metallica to perform the closing concert at the event. “We’re thrilled to announce that Metallica will be performing the closing concert at BlizzCon 2014, playing before a sold-out convention crowd on the night of November 8,” Blizzard announced earlier. “After two full days of epic gaming and intense eSports action, an earth-shaking concert is the perfect sendoff for everyone at the show and watching from home.”
Unfortunately tickets for the event have already been sold out long ago so if you want to witness the glory of Metallica you’ll have to do it from home. It won’t come cheap though as a virtual ticket which allows you to watch the live events costs no less than $39.99. On the bright side, by purchasing a BlizzCon 2014 virtual ticket you’ll receive access to a bunch of in-game goodies. These include: Nexus mount and portrait for Heroes of the Storm, Warlords of Draenor weapon transmogs for Diablo 3, Grommloc pet for World of Warcraft, BlizzCon 2014 card back for Hearthstone and a couple of new portraits and a decal for Starcraft 2. Aside from in-game rewards and the Metallica concert, virtual ticket owners will also be able to watch the cosplay contests, eSports competitions, and exclusive panels and interviews with the Blizzard developers.
Needless to say, the virtual ticket offers a pretty good bang for your buck even though nothing beats actually attending the event. BlizzCon 2014 will take place November 7 – 8 in Irvine, California, with the full scheduled to be revealed as the event draws closer. Traditionally, BlizzCon has been the place where Blizzard makes announcements regarding any upcoming games or expansions. Word on the street is that the company is finally prepared to unveil a new IP and we believe it’s going to be called Overwatch. The company might also announce the release date for the final Stacraft 2 expansion, Legacy of the Void. Aside from that, we might also hear something about a new Hearthstone or Diablo 3 expansion, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
