PS4 update 2.0 comes with a plethora of issues according to user reports

The long awaited firmware update 2.0 is finally live on the PS4, but it didn’t come without any problems unfortunately. Several users have reported a wide variety of issues ever since the update launched, ranging from inability to use newly implemented features like Share Play to the console getting stuck in Rest Mode. There are also more than a few reports coming from users who are unable to connect to the PSN anymore following update 2.0. Even more concerning is the fact that a lot of PS4 owners can’t play certain games on their console at the moment precisely because they can’t connect to the PlayStation Network.

“Hm, I’m logged in to my US PSN account, have access to the store and everything, but I can’t connect to the servers when playing any online game (BF4, Warf Thunder, Trials…),” said one user on NeoGAF. Another one reports that “I’m not sure if this has happened to anyone yet (didn’t read the entire thread)… but wanted to give a heads up that ever since I’ve installed this update… my PS4 doesn’t come out of rest mode. I had to unplug my PS4 and lose my Driveclub save file in the progress.” Those are just a couple of examples though as there is an ongoing thread on NeoGAF jam packed with user reports regarding all sorts of PS4 issues caused by firmware update 2.0.

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment is well aware of these problems and is reportedly working on a way of fixing them as we speak. It’s pretty safe to assume that another update with bug fixes and stability improvements will be making its way to the PS4 in the near future. “We are aware of issues reported by some PS4 users following the release of PS4’s latest system software update, v2.00,” Sony told VideoGamer. “We are investigating these issues and will provide an update as soon as we have more information.”
