Lords of the Fallen: Ancient Labyrinth DLC announced

Co-developer/publisher CI Games has recently announced its latest action role-playing title Lords of the Fallen will be getting its first downloadable pack sometime this winter. Entitled Ancient Labyrinth, this first DLC will last players around two-and-a-half hours, and will include a giant maze full of skeletons and new, puzzle-based gameplay. In addition to announcing the aforementioned new content, Executive Producer Tomasz Gop has also revealed Lords of the Fallen has sold 200,000 copies and shipped a total of 700,000 units to retailers. Lords of the Fallen’s budget required CI Games to ship 500,000 in order for the game to be profitable, something it has now done.

Lords of the Fallen is an upcoming hack and slash action role playing game developed by German game studio Deck13 Interactive in collaboration with Polish studio CI Games and published by Bandai Namco Games. The game is set in a world where no sin is forgotten. Players take on the role of Harkyn – a convicted criminal whose sins are visible on his face, in the form of runes. The world’s rulers are working to banish all evil from humans, though it is unclear what exactly this might mean for someone like Harkyn. When an army of long defeated gods attacks the human realm, Harkyn is released from prison with a chance at redemption. Along with his mentor – Kaslo – the journey to stop the attacks leads to Rhogar: another dimension inhabited by demons. Players can form alliances as they progress, combat enemies of ever increasing difficulty, and eventually travel to the heart of the demonic realm, in an effort to achieve forgiveness for the game’s anti-hero.

Lords of the Fallen was met with mixed reviews. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic gave the PlayStation 4 version 65.00%  and 69/100, the PC version 68.64%, and the Xbox One 71/100. Most reviewers praised the game’s similarities with From Software’s Demon’s/Dark Souls series, but have criticized Lords of the Fallen’s barren story and boring characters.
