Halo is not ready to return to eSports just yet, but it will be soon

Halo will have to wait a bit longer before it will be able to step back onto the eSports scene as 343 Industries announced that the Championship Series has been delayed. The Halo Championship Series is a new league created with the release of the Master Chief Collection and was supposed to kick off today, November 16th. However, matchmaking issues with the collection has forced the developer to postpone the championships for one whole week, which means that they will now only begin next Sunday, November 23rd. 343 also mentions that this date is not final and still subject to change, so it might receive an additional delay depending on whether or not the problems can be fixed in time.

“We know that Halo fans around the world are excited for the launch of the Halo Championship Series, and we are too,” a recent post on the official Halo website reads. “The first pre-season online cup was originally scheduled for 11.16, however, we’ve decided to postpone until the following week, as 343 Industries is focused on resolving existing matchmaking issues. This delay will ensure that the first pre-season cup is up to the standards of our fans and competitors. We’re now targeting 11.23 for the first online pre-season cup, and will provide updates should anything change.”

343 already released an update that comes with fixes for the campaign and user interface. This update also provides a few fixes for the Matchmaking issues, but based on this recent post we can only conclude that there are still a few more problems that have not been resolved just yet. Another patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is most likely already in the works and should start rolling out sometime next week. Halo was pretty popular among eSports fans back in the day so let’s hope that it will be able to make a comeback soon. At the moment there are very few competitive shooters except for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, so one more would definitely not hurt.
