Amiibo Connectivity to Hyrule Warriors Detailed

Nintendo has gone into details on how the upcoming Amiibo figures will interact with Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U. The main function is naturally with the Link Amiibo. By scanning the Link Amiibo, you will be able to unlock the spinner weapon for use in the game. The spinner is an item that was used in The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess for the GameCube and Wii consoles. The Zelda Amiibo will be used to get a weapon rated three stars or higher, once per day for each daily scan. All other Amiibo figures will be compatible with Hyrule Warriors, but will only get you a weapon rated three stars or lower for each daily scan. It has been confirmed that Toon Link will act just like regular Link, unlocking the spinner weapon for use. However, Sheik has not received any additional feature yet, it remains to be seen if she will unlock anything extra in Hyrule Warriors.

Additionally, Midna in her original form will be added as a playable character in Hyrule Warriors soon in the “Twilight Princess pack.” Her main weapon will be the Mirror of Twilight, which Eiji Aonuma commented on in a Miiverse post is “pretty amazing in Hyrule Warriors.” Not only will players be able to play as Twili Midna but also gain new weapons, costumes and an adventure map. Aonuma also teased near the end of his post that players can dress Link “as a certain familiar character from the Zelda series.” I’m hoping for Tinkle.

The Twilight Princess Pack for Hyrule Warriors will be released worldwide on November 27. Hyrule Warriors is Legend of Zelda mixed with Dynasty Warriors and exclusive to the Wii U. It was generally liked by critics with a GameRankings score of 76.8%. In GameInformer’s review, Kyle Hilliard summed it up by saying, “It might not be the Zelda game we expected for Link’s first original Wii U debut, but it will happily hold us over while we wait for the console’s first true Legend of Zelda experience.” Hyrule Warriors launched on September 26 in North America. Amiibo figures will be available starting on November 21, the same day Super Smash Bros for Wii U launches.
