Blizzard reveals more new cards for Hearthstone: Goblins vs Gnomes
Earlier this month, Blizzard Entertainment announced the first expansion pack for Hearthstone, while also revealing some of the new cards that will be added to the game once Goblins vs Gnomes arrives. Recently the company presented several more additions and that’s what we’re here to talk about today. We’re looking at a total of seven new cards, including the first Druid, Warrior, and Warlock class cards. In addition, there is also a pretty powerful Shaman spell card that goes by the name of Ancestor’s Call. This is a new Epic card that forces both players to put a random minion from their hand into the battlefield.
This card only costs 4 mana, so it can be very valuable if you play it and get to summon a very powerful Legendary minion. On the other hand, it can be pretty risky as well because your opponent also gets to summon a minion and it might be stronger than yours. The Goblins vs Gnomes Hearthstone expansion does have a “high risk, high reward” theme to it and Ancestor’s Call definitely fits the bill. The same can also be said about the new Warlock Card Fel Cannon. This is a 3/5 minion that costs 4 mana and deals 2 damage to a non-Mech minion. Fel Cannon offers great value for its mana cost but it can also be quite annoying since it can force you to attack your own minions. I suspect that most Warlocks in Goblins vs Gnomes will only add this card to a deck that includes plenty of Mech minions.
Next off, we’re looking at two new Warrior cards in the form of Screwjank Clunker and Shieldmaiden. The former is a 4 mana cost 2/5 minion that can give +2/-2 to a friendly Mech minion thanks to its Battlecry, while the latter is a 6 mana cost 5/5 minion that gives your hero +5 armor when you summon it. Both cards are very strong additions to a Warrior’s arsenal and might even seem a bit inbalanced when you compare them to some of the current Hearthstone cards. However, Goblins vs Gnomes adds similarly powerful cards to all classes in order to balance things out. As for Druids, Blizzard revealed a new card for this class and they’re calling it the Anodized Robo Cub. This mechanical teddy bear fits really well in any Druid deck because it offers versatility, a signature feature of this class. The Robo Cub is a 2 mana cost 2/2 minion with Taunt and you can choose to add an additional +1 attack or +1 health after you summon it.
Class cards aside, Blizzard also revealed two more Gnomes vs Goblins Neutral cards. One of them is a 4 mana cost 1/4 Mech minion called Jeeves. While his stats are far from being impressive, his ability is quite useful regardless of the type of deck you’re playing. As long as Jeeves is in play, “at the end of each player’s turn, that player draws until they have 3 cards.” Granted, this card could also be useful for your opponent, but if you’re very low on cards it’s definitely worth summoning this guy on the battlefield. Last but not least, Blizzard unveiled yet another Neutral Legendary card that will make its way to Hearthstone with Goblins vs Gnomes. Entitled Foe Reaper 4000, this 8 mana cost 6/9 card has the unique ability of damaging minions that are adjacent to the one you are attacking. Ideally, you could potentially deal 6 damage to your main target as well as the minions next to it for a total of 18 damage across three targets in a single swing. In reality though, the Foe Reaper 4000 is highly situation and will only work as intended if your opponent somehow fails to kill it during their turn.
