Bladestorm: Nightmare to be released in March 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One
Bladestorm: Nightmare is perhaps one of the most underrated battlefield strategy games out there, but this might be about to change with the new HD ‘facelift’ Koei Tecmo has planned for the PS3 original. The next-gen version of Bladestorm: Nightmare is scheduled to release early next year on PS4 and Xbox One. On top of the HD visual remastering, the game will be getting a plethora of new content, including the titular “Nightmare,” a fantasy-based scenario which will allow players to embody multiple historical characters on the battlefield, which is a welcomed addition to the original mercenary only option. Koei Tecmo officials have recently revealed that Bladestorm: Nightmare will be released on March 5th, 2015 in Australia and March 6th in Europe. North America is still pending on an official release date.
Omega Force, the developer of Bladestorm has managed to create an immersive fantasy story littered with wizards and dragons in “make believe” battles. The game is divided in two parts: The Hundred Years War and Nightmare; the latter allowing players to take control of entire armies within the fantasy world and lead them in battle. Players are able to switch between four battalions, while up to 200 soldiers can be controlled per each squad. Battle movement speed has been altered for all units to ensure a more dynamic warfare experience. The Hundred Years War is the main theme behind this real-time strategy title and players will be free to choose who they’ll be fighting for; whether it’s England or France, you’ll be in for some memorable battlefield encounters in which famous historic figures such as Jeanne d’Arc and Edward the Black will be making an appearance.
We’ll be waiting to learn more from Bladestorm: Nightmare in the future, but as it stands right now this next-gen overhaul looks quite promising.
