ZombiU 2 Listed on Amazon France

ZombiU 2 is going to be released in October of 2015 if a listing by Amazon France is to be believed. The posting went up and was quickly taken down on November 25. France website Jeuxvideo has the screenshots which you can find here. ZombiU 2 is listed at 39.99 Euros, or about 49.88 USD. The setting would be New York instead of the predecessor’s London based setting. It would be open world once again and is listed as “survival-horror.” More interesting is that ZombiU 2 listed under Namco Bandai Games instead of Ubisoft, who is actually based in France.

The original title, ZombiU was a launch game for the Wii U back in 2012. The game did okay critically and was a failure commercially. Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot talked to Games Industry about how the game was not going to make a profit. This came as no surprise since the Wii U itself has not done very well commercially, trailing behind both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In May of 2013 Jean-Philippe Caro replied to a Twitter question about a sequel, stating “The team is working hard on a prototype. It’s too soon to tell you more.” ZombiU was developed by Ubisoft Montpellier who are the creators of the Rayman series. Also of note is their work on Beyond Good and Evil and Valiant Hearts: The Great War.

Because of the lack of commercial success, it is not surprising that Ubisoft would choose to license out the product to another studio and publisher. Namco Bandai Games who deal in licensed products such as Naruto, Sword Art Online and Dragon Ball. The listing of ZombiU 2 on Amazon France is credible due to multiple games being initially leaked via the website. Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Grand Theft Auto V on PC were both revealed by listings on Amazon France. On the humor side, ZombiU 2 sounds a lot like the band U2 which leads commenters to hope the final boss is lead singer Bono.
