Xolo Opus 3 mid-range selfie smartphone announced

Indian manufacturer Xolo recently announced the Opus 3, a mid-range smartphone aimed at helping its owner to capture that perfect selfie. The device manages this feat thanks to its 5MP front-facing 88 degree wide-angle lens camera with flash and BSI sensor. Naturally, the handset can be useful for a lot of other things than just taking pictures of yourself, however, that does seem to be its main focus at first glance. The rest of the hardware is definitely nothing to write home about, although it’s not too terrible either. As for the display, the Xolo Opus 3 comes equipped with a 720p resolution 5-inch panel, which seems a bit small compared to those features on some of the newer smartphones.

Under the hood you’ll first notice the main reason why this is considered to be only a mid-range device. I am of course talking about the quad-core Mediatek MTK6582M processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The CPU is powered by a 2,500 mAh battery and features 1 GB of RAM. Aside from its front-facing selfie shooter, the Xolo Opus 3 sports yet another camera, this time on the back. This unit is an 8 MP Exmor R camera manufactured by Sony that’s capable of 1080p video recording and comes with auto-focus and dual-flash. The Xolo Opus 3 also features 8 GB of internal storage memory that can be further expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card, dual SIM capabilities, and Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

Connectivity-wise, we’re looking at HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0. The Xolo Opus 3 will become available in India in just a matter of days for the low price of 8499 Indian Rupee, which is the equivalent of about 135 US dollars. There is no news on whether or not this smartphone will become available outside the country as well in the future, but we’ll make sure to let you know if it does, so stay tuned.
