The Legend of Zelda Wii U First Look Gameplay
The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U information has been scarce ever since the game was first revealed at E3 this year. Now we have a video of gameplay footage that was debuted at this year’s Game Awards.
At the Game Awards this year, original The Legend of Zelda director Shigeru Miyamoto and series producer Eiji Aonuma guided gamers through footage of the upcoming title. The demo (seen below) shows off how beautiful the game looks, and some of the mechanics that players can expect to use in the game. Players can place beacons on the game screen, which will be visible on the world map displayed on the Wii U GamePad. During the demo, Aunoma zooms out of the map, showing how big the open world map in The Legend of Zelda will be. The demo also features a new mechanic: Link can now leap off of Epona’s back, and fall down in slow-motion firing at enemies with his bow. During the video, Miyamoto and Aonuma also briefly discuss the upcoming Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the 3DS.
The first look at a Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U first debuted at E3 2011 during the Wii U reveal. The tech demo showed off the system’s graphical capabilities. It was during a Nintendo Direct presentation in 2013 Aonuma stated that a new game in The Legend of Zelda series was being developed for the Wii U. It was at this year’s E3 that the first in-game footage of the title was revealed, showing off the title’s cel-shaded graphics, and was revealed to be a non-linear open world game. This was a change from the past titles in the series having a more linear direction.
The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U is expected to release sometime in 2015. The game will be available for the Wii U system.
