World Trigger Game for PS Vita Announced

World Trigger is a Japanese manga series that has branched out and received an anime series recently. Now the series will be coming to video games as well.

Announced in Jump, World Trigger will be receiving a game sometime next year. Titled World Trigger: Borderless Mission, the game will be coming to the PS Vita. The game is a “team cooperation and battle action” title. The game takes place in Border’s headquarters in Mikado City, and is said to emphasize creativity in players strategies by giving them a number of options in areas such as the platoons and Triggers they can use. There will also be a multiplayer mode where players can get together and take on missions, as well as edit their platoons and determine who plays what role in battle, such as Attacker, Shooter, Gunner, and Sniper.

Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since February of 2013, World Trigger is a manga written and illustrated by Daisuke Ashihara. An anime adaptation of the series started airing in October 2014. One day, portals to a different world open in Mikado City. Monsters called “Neighbors” start to come out of them, wreaking havoc with advanced technology. Soon, an agency called Border is formed, who fight back against the Neighbors. Using weapons called Triggers, they keep the threat at bay. Four years pass by, and the populace of the city has recovered from the attacks, to the point that the city has become used to them. The plot follows Yuma Kuga, a humanoid Neighbor, and Osamu Mikumo, an agent of Border, as they help keep the Neighbor threat at bay.

World trigger can be expected to release sometime in Japan for the PS Vita. There is no word on whether or not we will see an American release. World Trigger: Borderless Mission will be the first game that the franchise has received.
