Apple Pay coming to the UK and Europe soon

Apple Pay, Tim Cook and Co.’s new mobile payment platform was launched a few weeks after the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus release event commenced and it took off pretty well in the United States. That is until certain retailers and drug stores backed out of the deal in favor of CurrentC. Nonetheless, Apple didn’t give up on Apple Pay and is furthering support to the UK and Europe soon. The information comes after a job listing appeared seeking for an intern for a London-based HQ for Apple Pay.

The job listing has since been taken down, but it was live enough so that we could get some sort of confirmation that Apple Pay is indeed coming to the UK and Europe. We had heard rumors and Apple did say it would expand the platform outside of the US, but the recent job listing is now proof enough to be confident. In the listing, the company said that Apple Pay would not only land in the UK and Europe, but in India, Africa and the Middle East, too so the company clearly has big plans for the platform.

The job listing searched for an intern that would drive the rollout of the Apple Pay service in the UK and Europe and also mentioned some characteristics of Apple Pay that we already know. The ad also mentioned the Apple Watch, which is nice to hear, since we’ve been longing to see the Apple Watch release for quite some time now. Apple Pay works with the NFC chips built into the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the upcoming Apple Watch. At the moment, the NFC chip is locked to Apple Pay, but based on the history of Touch ID, we can safely assume that the chip will be unlocked to developers soon enough, maybe after Apple Pay kicks off properly world-wide. An exact release date for Apple Pay in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa wasn’t mentioned, but rumors say it should happen in the first half of 2015. Do you think Apple Pay will be a successful service in these regions or will it flop?

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
