Clockwork Empires Receives December Update

Clockwork Empires is a colony building simulator set in a Steampunk world of science and horrors. Now the Early Access title will be receiving a December update to add a few things.

A December update for Clockwork Empires has launched, introducing “The Ghastly Tale of Amon Chalkbracket’s Eldritch Transformation.” Major new features include Laboratories and Scientists to study weird artifacts and to do science. Naturalists will now explore, study nature, and find weird artifacts. Also, your colonists might turn into monsters if certain conditions are met. Finally, buildings, modules, and zones can be dismantled; players can build, dismantle, then rebuild their colony to be more perfect.

In Clockwork Empires, players take on the role of a Junior Bureaucrat, who is sent to seek fame, promotions, and resources to feed the ravenous maw of Imperial Industry & Commerce. Gamers must build a prosperous colony, fill it with magnificent factories worked by oppressed laborers, and harness the power of steam through machines invented by men and women of science. Players build the colony and populate with characters that have their own memories and unfolding futures shaped by the player’s choices.

The game comes complete with all the elements for an industrial revolution, though a colony pushed too far will break down and release horrors, such as cultists, marauding fish-people, axe murderers, and even darker things from Beyond the Stars. Clockwork Empires features free-form goals, as every scenario is what players make of it. As the unknown land is colonized, “The Empire” will give you objectives, but players may choose to align with another faction, if any at all. There will be rewards and consequences for every decision. Clockwork Empires will also include multiplayer, supporting up to four players online.

Clockwork Empires is available on Steam Early Access. The game will set gamers back $29.99.
