Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void will feature two new Protoss units after all

Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void, the final chapter in Blizzard’s highly acclaimed RTS trilogy will bring a host of new changes to a game that has decreased in popularity quite a lot lately. The company recently gave fans an update regarding their work on the expansion and it seems like Protoss players can look forward to more than one new unit after all. Back at Blizzcon 2014, many of the said players expressed their disappointment when the new units were announced as Blizzard revealed two new additions for both the Zerg and the Terran while only presenting one new unit for the Protoss. However, is seems like the main protagonists of Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void will not be getting the short end of the stick according to Blizzard.

The company revealed in the aforementioned update that they are currently working on an additional new Protoss unit that hasn’t been named yet. Not a whole details are available at the moment as Blizzard is still testing around various ideas in an attempt to create a unit that will allow the Protoss to play a more aggressive early game in Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void. The company’s current plan is to make a harassing unit that comes with the Phase Shift ability, which will allow it to become invulnerable for a short period of time. This new unit will likely not be cost effective so that players will not be inclined to build it in favor of the core units. Instead, they should only build this unit if they want to go for an early game harassment strategy in Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void.

Blizzard says that this is all subject to change and are waiting for player feedback in regards to this idea. If the community’s response will end up being overwhelmingly negative, we might end up seeing a new unit altogether. The other new Protoss unit in Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void goes by the name of Distruptor.
