Final Fantasy XIV Receiving new mini-games
Chocobo racing and Triple Triad are coming to Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV Gold Saucer Details Released

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be receiving its own Golden Saucer area where gamers can hang out and play mini-games. Now, Square Enix has let out a few details on what to expect from this area of the game.

In the Gold Saucer, players of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be able to partake in games such as Chocobo Racing from Final Fantasy VII, and the card game Triple Triad from Final Fantasy VIII. In a Q&A with the game’s development team, a few details about the Gold Saucer were released. First, the Gold Saucer will use in-game currency. There will be a new type of currency for the Gold Saucer, but it will be bought with gil. No details were given, but it was revealed that there will be more games than just Chocobo Racing and Triple Triad. When it comes to Triple Triad, gamers can play against NPCs, as well as other players. There will be 80 cards available at launch, with more to come later. There will be a number of ways to gain more cards. You can obtain them from defeating NPCs, exchanging the new currency for them, or as rare drops from battle. You can check out the rest of the Q&A session here.

In Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, players create a character and explore the world of Eorzea. There are a number of races to choose from, as well as a number of classes. The game does make use of a job system similar to past Final Fantasy titles. Once a character has leveled up their class to level 20, and have completed a special quest, they will have access to one of the game’s jobs. In Final Fantasy XIV, characters are able to switch between jobs and classes quite easily. This allows the player to have one character with multiple play styles, rather than having to raise multiple characters.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is available for PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. The game is cross-play, so players of all three platforms can play with each other.
