Samsung is apparently working on a smart glove now

Samsung has become infamous for being one of the leading companies when it comes to “smart” devices. The Korean tech giant already has plenty of smartphones, smartwatches, and even smartbands under its belt, but then again, so do many of its rivals. Perhaps in an attempt to differentiate itself from the crowd, Samsung is now apparently working on a smart glove. You can already find smart shirts and smartpants on the market, so I’m sure many people saw this coming a mile away. Though some might understandably think of this as being some sort of a joke, we assure you it’s not. Samsung even filled a patent application and you can find it on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website complete with sketches and description. The company also made a second filling on the Korean version of the agency.

So, what are we looking at here? The exact purpose for this gizmo remains to be seen but we do know that Samsung is calling it the “finger motion recognition glove”. The smart glove will apparently be able to provide you with a flexible display literally placed in the palm of your hand and various sensors in each finger. Can you watch funny Youtube videos via Wi-Fi using this device? Perhaps, although other people might find it strange if they saw you staring at your palm and laughing all by yourself. Alternatively, Samsung might be working on some type of gaming motion controller reminiscent of Nintendo’s Power Glove. Truth is, we have no idea what the company is building here but the concept does seem interesting. Let’s just hope it will end up being useful as well.

Ironically, Samsung announced a similar product last year entitled “Samsung Fingers” as an April Fools joke. That device also came equipped with a flexible display and even had 4 GB of RAM and a 16 MP camera to boot. Maybe Samsung finally ran out of ideas and are now visiting old concepts with the aim of turning them into real products. In any case, we’re dying to see what comes out of this. After all, our wardrobes can certainly make good use of some more smart pieces of clothing.
