World of Warcraft Anniversary Event is back

World of Warcraft has been around for ten years now. This year, Blizzard celebrated with a special event that included a special raid. Now, Blizzard has extended the event, allowing North American players to celebrate just a little longer.

The World of Warcraft tenth anniversary event has been extended for players in North America. On the game’s forum, Blizzard announced that the event will be back for a week. Starting today at 1:00 p.m., the event will last until January 13th at the same time. While there is nothing new coming to the event, players can participate in all the events again. One of the events will be a Team Deathmatch-style Battleground based on Tarren Mill vs. Southshore struggle from the old days of World of Warcraft. Unlike back then however, there will be a defined victor. There will also be a special raid based off of the Molten Core raid. Max-level players will be able participate in a special 40-player Raid Finder version that will have them hunt down Ragnaros and his minions. Defeating Ragnaros will earn gamers a special Achievement, as well as a special Core Hound mount. Anyone who logs in during the event will also receive a special pet: the Molten Corgi. All players who participate in the game’s anniversary event will be able to summon this pet.

Originally released in 2004, World of Warcraft is an offshoot of the original Warcraft series. The game takes place 4 years after the events of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, and is set within the world of Azeroth. World of Warcraft released on the tenth anniversary of the Warcraft series. Since the game’s release, there have been five expansion: The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, and the recent Warlords of Draenor. World of Warcraft has over 10 million subscribers, and is currently the world’s most subscribed MMORPG.
