Dota 2 gets its first update of the year

Valve just announced the first update of 2015 for their highly popular massive online battle arena, Dota 2. While the last couple of updates for the game have been quite substantial, this particular one is very small and brings only a few changes to the table. First off, the company says that normal All Pick matches will use the same alternating picking style found in Ranked Matchmaking for the following week. Judging by their statement, things should revert back to normal once the week has passed. Valve also says that custom in-game icons for both items and buffs are now only being shown for the local user. Finally, a number of items have been reorganized in the Dota 2 Quick Buy menu, namely Power Treads, Arcane Booths, Butterfly, and Mjollnir.

And that’s a wrap. As mentioned, the first update of the year brings very few changes, but I’m sure that more substantial updates are currently in the works. Meanwhile, Valve recently announced that preparations for The International 5 Dota 2 tournament have begun. The company already revealed that the main event will again take place in Seattle, Washington during six consecutive days. This time around, the most important Dota 2 event of the year will kick off on August 3rd and end on August 8th. Team invitations are scheduled to be sent shortly after May 1st.
