Is the new Moto E coming on the 26th?

The Motorola Moto E is one of the best budget Android smartphones you can get out there, but no successor to the handset has been announced officially as of yet. Nonetheless, new models for the successor of the budget-friendly device have shown up at the FCC depicting a pretty weird-looking device. The FCC listing for an unknown Motorola device reveals that we might be looking at a massive handset, measuring 13 cm in height and 7 cm in width.

We cannot guarantee that the listing is actually of the upcoming Motorola Moto E, but all evidence points towards either the budget-friendly Android phone’s successor, or to a brand new handset we’ve never heard of. The listing also reveals a non-removable battery of unknown size and no LTE connectivity, which is odd seeing as LTE is rapidly becoming a necessity. FCC listings aren’t always accurate and won’t reflect the finished product, so take this with a grain of salt.

From what we can tell, the display size will be about 4.5 or 5 inches, but the latter only being possible if the Motorola Moto E bezels will be made extremely thin. Since we might be looking at a budget-oriented device, we should see either a Snapdragon 615 CPU or maybe a Snapdragon 410, but we’re rooting for the former. Memory-wise, we expect to see about 1.5 or 2 GB RAM with 16 GB internal storage. Android 5.0 Lollipop should be included in the package, if our suppositions are correct. What’s more, Motorola is holding a press conference on January 26th in Beijing and that might mean that the mysterious phone we think is the new Moto E might be launched there.

The Motorola press conference should shed some more light on what kind of devices we should be expecting soon and it may even reveal the update schedule for Android 5.0 Lollipop. We are expecting Lollipop on the first generation Moto X and Moto G, and many are anxious to see the update rolling out as soon as possible. We will be following the Motorola event in Beijing and will let you know all about the announcements made. We hope to see a new Moto E, too, since budget-oriented smartphones are still a very important part of the market.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
