Here’s The First Trailer For Dark Souls 2: Scholar Of The First Sin
We’ve known for a while now that “Dark Souls 2” would be getting a re-release on PS4 and Xbox One (as well as an updated release on Windows PC). What we didn’t know was that From Software are serious about sticking with the title “Dark Souls 2: Scholar Of The First Sin” Because, you know, it’s a little ridiculous. We’ll stick to “Dark Souls 2,” for now. From have released an all new trailer, called Forlorn Hope, that blends live action elements with in-game graphics to show off the games revamped lighting.
“Dark Souls 2: Scholar Of The First Sin” features the original game and all currently released downloadable content. From Software have promised enhancements to the framerate and audio, as well as a bump in the number of players capable of taking part in an online game. The new game will also feature new enemy and item placements, and an overhauled online matchmaking system. While the update will feature no new maps, game director Yui Tanimura told IGN that “Scholar of the First Sin” will feature a twist on the original game’s story, thanks to the introduction of a new non-playable character, as well as new paths through existing maps.
While not quite reaching the level of widespread critical acclaim enjoyed by “Demons’ Souls” and “Dark Souls,” “Dark Souls2” was still very well received by gamers. Our own Jason Moth rated the original PC release a 9.3 out of 10 in his review last year.
“Dark Souls 2 is one of the best RPGs I’ve played in a very long time. The PC version does the game justice even though it has a few downsides as well. There is some room for improvement, but for the most part this is an excellent title. The game demands patience and offers glory in return.”
It would appear From Software has been given the chance to make those improvements. “Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin” will be released on Apr. 7 for Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Between the release of “Bloodborne” in March and “Dark Souls 2” later in the year, it would appear From is having quite a year. Either way, lots of death awaits gamers everywhere.
