Katy Perry iOS game coming later this year

Yes, you read that right. Katy Perry is going to have her own iOS game this year, which is no surprise after the massive hype around her Super Bowl performance last weekend. The developers behind the game are none other than Glu Mobile. If you’re not familiar with them, you should know they are behind the record-breaking game called Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.

Glu Mobile have talked about the upcoming Katy Perry iOS game and have disclosed that it will feature Katy Perry, Katy Perry’s voice and even her personality. They didn’t say what kind of game it will be, but Cult of Mac pointed out that it will probably work the same way Kim Kardashian: Hollywood does: lots of in-app purchases. The Kardashian game managed to rake up more than $200 million in revenue, which is staggeringly high for a game that hasn’t been on the market for that long. The principle behind the Katy Perry iOS game will probably work along the same lines.

The Katy Perry iOS game will be free-to-play and will be launched later this year. From what we understand from their blog post, Glu Mobile intend to make the game a role-playing one, where you will play Katy Perry and try to rise to fame. The game will also be available in the Google Play Store, according to Glu Mobile. Glu Mobile have stressed the fact that the Katy Perry iOS game is targeted at fans of the singer who follow her on social media and other platforms. That’s understandable, as she’s got more than 170 million fans worldwide, which translates to a lot of profit.

Glu Mobile expects the Katy Perry iOS and Android game to be released later this year, although they haven’t provided an exact release date. They are estimating high profits from the game, both for the developer and for Katy Perry. With the huge fanbase the artist has, we would be surprised at anything less than enormous success of the mobile game.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
