Just Cause 3’s First Trailer Confirms Winter Release

Square Enix and Avalanche Studios revealed in a press release today the first official trailer for the upcoming continuation of the Just Cause series, Just Cause 3. While showing off the mindset of the game’s main character, it also reveals that the game will be releasing during winter this year.

Though short, the trailer itself starts off with a literal explosion, followed by subsequent explosions. Fitting to its title, Firestarter, the video features a lot of fire and flames, and the contents of the trailer are said to let viewers take a look inside the mind’s eye of Just Cause 3’s protagonist, Rico Rodriguez. The CGI trailer also shows off the game’s new wingsuit mechanic, which Rodriguez deploys just before he collides with a cliff face. The video concludes with “set the world on fire,” which is accompanied by “holiday 2015,” confirming that Just Cause 3 will launch towards the end of the year. Gamers can view the trailer below.

Just Cause 3 will be an open-world adventure game that will launch on PC / Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The sequel was confirmed in November last year, and exclusive information regarding the game was revealed in the December issue of Game Informer. The favoured grapple hook and parachute will make a return in Just Cause 3, along with the new inclusion of a wingsuit. The game also places Rodriguez in the fictional island of Medici, in the Mediterranean, and its storyline is centered around him overthrowing an oppressive regime that has developed there. It’s also confirmed that Just Cause 3 won’t feature multiplayer, but will sport a world map roughly the same size as the one in Just Cause 2, only “denser.”
