Final Fantasy’s Final Symphony Album Now Available

Detailed in a press release published today, leading videogame concert production company, Merregnon Studios, has announced that a brand new album, filled with orchestrated Final Fantasy scores, is now available to purchases worldwide via digital download. The album itself can bought from iTunes for $9.99 / £7.99, and features “breathtaking new arrangements” of the soundtracks from Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X.

Final Symphony is based on the Final Symphony concert tour, which was composed by Nobuo Uematsu (the name behind most of Final Fantasy’s music) and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. Eckehard Stier conducted the orchestra, and was accompanied by solo pianist Katharina Treutler. The album also boasts the same sound engineering as heard in films like Skyfall, Avatar and The Lord of the Rings. What’s more is that Final Symphony “has been expertly Mastered for iTunes for unrivalled audio quality.”

“I never imagined twenty years ago that I would be able to work with the London Symphony Orchestra,” Uematsu commented in the press release. “It’s just wonderful that there are so many people who like Final Fantasy music; and to have it arranged by such incredibly talented people, Final Symphony is like a dream come true!”

The album’s producer, Thomas Böcker, adds that the Final Symphony album will be a “once in a lifetime production,” adding that everyone involved go together to “create something truly remarkable” out of Final Fantasy’s score. “This is the music of Final Fantasy as you’ve never heard it before,” he concludes.

Final Symphony, according to the press release, is a licensed series of concerts that play orchestrated music based on the soundtracks from Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X, wil exclusive arrangements produced by Masashi Hamauzu, Jonne Valtonen and Roger Wanamo. The concert first ran in May, 2013, and experienced a sell-out success in Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
