Google Now gets new Health Cards

Google Now updated with disease cards for hypochondriacs

Google Now has finally been updated so that you can now access cards that show symptoms for various diseases, and offers up information about their history, state and even treatment suggestions. The hypochondriac can feel right at home in Google’s ecosystem starting today, so that you can accurately ( sort of ) find out what your headache is a symptom of. Specialists and doctors have always warned people to exercise caution when checking out their symptoms online as many symptoms can point towards more than a few diseases. Hypochondriacs should definitely stay away from the internet in this case, as I myself have not once fallen into the trap of believing I’m terminally ill because of misunderstanding symptoms and following bogus articles about treatments online.

Anyhow, Google Now has the possibility of showing you disease cards, as I like to call them, which is a neat addition when searching after symptoms. I would still suggest refraining from drawing conclusions based on “internet education”, and turn towards a professional to diagnose you if you really believe there’s a problem. Luckily, in most cases, the symptoms people search for online are just mild cases of the flu or some other trivial, every-day disease. But more often than not, they could point towards something much more serious. Google Now still is neat with the new update as it offers of the most reliable information on a certain disease through a quick voice search.

The Google Now update now lets cards display information about well-known diseases, as well as more rare diseases or illnesses that are very uncommon. If you look at the new Google Now cards from an educational point of view, they’re pretty helpful. You can learn about the regions in which malaria is widespread, or you can find out what kind of Ebola strains exist in the world right now. You can easily educate yourself on diseases and basic treatment methods that are known by physicians and doctors, just remember that there’s no better way of diagnosing than by going to a doctor’s office.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
