New LG G4 leaked specs point towards surprising hardware

LG G4 gets Snapdragon 808 CPU, April release date

The LG G4 is the next big thing everybody is waiting for, right up there next to the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 and the Sony Xperia Z4. LG has been rather mum about what the LG G4 will bring to the table, but they did spill the beans about the new flagship being “surprising”. The latest leak that comes from a new GFXBench benchmark result confirms the “surprising” part of that statement, as the LG G4 specs it lists are rather impressive, yet unexpected.

According to the new leak, the LG G4 specs include a Snapdragon 808 CPU, just a bit below in performance and configuration than the Snapdragon 810, which is featured in the Galaxy S6 and in the newly launched HTC One M9, not to mention the LG G Flex 2. The Snapdragon 808 is a hexa-core 64 bit processor, coupled with an Adreno 418 GPU, so it should definitely fare well in the market. Although it’s not as powerful as the 810, the 808 is just as flagship-material as the next thing. But the question here is: is this the LG G4 or a lower end model? We are not sure, as rumors about an alleged LG G4 Note are already circulating the web. We’ll find out sooner or later, though.

The LG G4 display has also surfaced in the benchmark, and this part isn’t that surprising. Although many expected a 5.3 or 5.1 inch display on the beast, this benchmark supports a 5.5 inch display, with a QHD display that has a resolution of 2560*1440 which translates to 534 ppi pixel density. All that is going to be powered by 3 GB RAM and supposedly 32 GB internal storage. Moreover, the benchmark reveals that the LG G4 camera will be a 16 MP sensor on the rear and an 8 MP camera on the front, which is impressive. If it’s going to be as good as the Galaxy S6 camera is supposed to be, Samsung and HTC might want to up their game in anticipation.

As far as the release date goes, all we have is rumors to go by, but they seem to be rather well-researched, so to speak. Our sources say that by the time the first few Galaxy S6 units are sold, the LG G4 will be launched. That means that the flagship should be launched sometime in April, and while we peg it for the middle of the month, we could be wrong. In any case, the LG G4 is shaping up to be at least surprising, but we’re curious to see if these early leaks really revealed the truth.
