Shin Megami Tensei IV Final – First Look

Just a few days ago, ATLUS announced Shin Megami Tensei IV Final, a Nintendo 3DS exclusive that will serve as a companion game of sorts to Shin Megami Tensei IV. Though it shares the majority of its title with the previous game, ATLUS has said that the game won’t be a remake or remaster, but an entirely new Shin Megami Tensei experience. It will, though, build on the foundation that was laid with Shin Megami Tensei IV, which launched on Nintendo 3DS in 2013. It’s currently slated for a February 2 release in Japan, but there hasn’t been any talk of a release date for other territories. Today, we finally got a chance to see the game in action. Check out the first promotional video below:

Pretty cool, right? We’ve got new characters, new demons, and even some familiar faces. This video isn’t the only Shin Megami Tensei IV Final news that has come out recently. Famitsu published several screenshots, and a NicoNico live stream featuring Kazuyuki Yamai also revealed some information. Below are some of the new screenshots:

During the live stream, we learned a few things about the game. First off, we know that the game won’t take a chaos / law route like Shin Megami Tensei IV. Instead, it’ll be a “neutral” game with multiple endings that depend on the player’s choices. The game’s heroine is 15-year-old Asahi, and the protagonist will be silent. Around 450 demons will show up in the game, and the stat system has been changed up a bit so it won’t be the same as it was in Shin Megami Tensei IV. Some characters from the first game will make appearances, including Navarre and Isabeau. Finally, the combat system has been changed up so that other non-monster characters can appear in your party instead of the odd way that they were implemented in the original game.
