Rise of the Tomb Raider gets a PC release date

Third person action adventure fans can rejoice, as Square Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider has an official release date of January 28 for the PC. According to MajorNelson.com, the game will be available on the Windows Store and Steam, so there’s no need to worry about being forced to use one or the other. In Rise of the Tomb Raider, you will be able to follow Lara Croft on her journey to Siberia in a race against the Trinity organization to see if there is any truth to there being an artifact that grants immortality.

From forests to snowy mountaintops to caves, Lara Croft can reach them all

According to a press release, the Windows 10 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider will feature 4K resolution support and it will incorporate “cutting edge” VXAO technology, developed in partnership with NVIDIA. “The PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the positive momentum from our highly successful partnership and collaboration with Microsoft for the launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360,” said Scot Amos, Co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a sequel to the reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, and while it has received generally good reviews (with most critics praising the combat and refinement of mechanics established in the Tomb Raider reboot), it suffered during the 2015 holiday season by being released in the same time frame as Fallout 4, Halo 5, Star Wars Battlefront, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and more. It also probably didn’t help that Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive, with a PS4 release date being set for the holiday season of 2016.
