Pokemon Go Halloween Event Announced

It’s safe to say that most people know about Pokemon Go, the mobile game that took the world by storm. Sadly, it has been losing a good portion of its player base ever since its release. A steady decline has been noticed. Despite that, it remains fairly popular, and Niantic is continuing to support the game. As of today, a special Halloween event has been announced for the Pokemon Go, effective October 26 through November 1. Whether this will help the game’s lifespan or not is something we will have to see for ourselves.

Many Halloween related game events like to focus on the darker side of Halloween. The spooky, the supernatural, and the occult. Pokemon Go is doing a bit of that, but to a downplayed extent. During this event, Drowzee, Gastly, Gengar, Golbat, Haunter, Hypno, and Zubat will all spawn more frequently on a global scale. All of them being Pokemon that are either poison, ghost, or psychic type Pokemon. Types that fit in well with the themes of Halloween and the spooky nature of the holiday. Although Drowzee and Zubat reportedly spawn very often already, to the point where some players are sick of them. Although this has the potential to be offset by the presence of their evolved forms.

Niantic is also looking to appeal to our collective inner child as well. While many of us now associate Halloween with celebrating the darker concepts of the world, we used to just want candy. Pokemon Go is going to be delivering on that front, as the candy drop rates will be doubled for this event. That means six candies per caught Pokemon, and two for each one transferred. The buddy Pokemon system goes even further, as it will drop four candies instead of one. This will provide a golden opportunity for players who need to accumulate more candies. A gold mine of sweet sugar is just around the corner
