Final Fantasy XV gets final demo

The fact that there are multiple Final Fantasy XV demos is a pretty clear sign of how messy that game’s development has been. The first demo, Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae, was released with first edition copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, on March 2015. Then, a demo featuring Young Noctis called “Platinum Demo” was available for free download on March 2016. And finally, 18 days before the game’s release date, a final demo was announced as a japanese free download called “Final Fantasy XV: Judgment Demo” that released on November 11th and it features a small sample of the game’s first chapter. Its only on japanese and according to Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, it approximately lasts from an hour to an hour and a half.

Aside from being a short sample of the finished game, the Judgment Demo has the distinction of being locked on the easy difficulty, this is because “it is aimed for newcomers or people on the fence about FF15”. It features half of Chapter 1 and its also limited when it comes to “level, ability points, and some areas of the map”. But the rest of the experience feels the same as it will when the game releases on November 29th. The only way to download to demo is to have a japanese PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account, but since those are quite easy to create, there’s many western console users that have already downloaded the Judgment Demo to check it out. Lastly, there’s a new trailer that appears when a player finishes the demo, although its entirely on japanese.

While the lack of difficulty settings doesn’t make much sense, getting another demo is a nice gift from Square Enix, especially for those unsure of purchasing Final Fanfasy XV. Its new content fo analyze and try out before the expected release date, which always gives some amount of interesting insight.
