Demo for New Square Enix RPG NieR: Automata Available Today
It’s been a busy couple of months for Square Enix in terms of releases, news, and new content. Final Fantasy XV launched at the end of November and new content was released soon after. New information on the eagerly anticipated Dragon Quest XI was revealed earlier this week, and Square Enix is encouraging players to re-experience their retro RPGs with an awesome holiday sale. If that wasn’t enough for the month of December, Square Enix just launched a playable demo of the new action RPG NieR: Automata for PlayStation 4. Square Enix gave a press release about the demo, stating that this excerpt of NieR: Automata “transports players to an abandoned factory, following android 2B’s mission to destroy a massive enemy weapon that lies within.”
Accompanying the announcement of the demo was a new trailer, giving news of some exciting collaborations with the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series: “Android 2B will be able to equip Noctis’s signature weapon, the “Engine Blade” from FINAL FANTASY XV and the “Cypress Stick” from the DRAGON QUEST series.”
NieR: Automata is the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2010 classic NIER. The game tells the story of three androids (2B, 9S and A2) as they fight to salvage a dystopian world overrun by weapons known as machine lifeforms. NieR: Automata is set to launch for PS4 on March 7, 2017, in North America for $59.99 and on Steam in early 2017. Hardcore fans of the series may be interested in preordering the “Black Box Edition” directly from Square Enix for $189.99. The special Day One edition is now available for pre-order with all major retailers. NieR: Automata will be rated M for Mature.
