Rumors about the Moto X+1 have started surfacing earlier this year and were claiming that the device will be Motorola’s next flagship smartphone. The successor to the popular Moto X will reportedly come with a bigger panel as well as an improved list of specs. Design-wise, the handset will apparently be very similar to its predecessor, apart from a few minor details. The images you can see below were sent to Android Police by a leaker and allegedly show the device it all of its glory. While we can’t confirm that this is actually the Moto X+1, it seems very likely as the pictures seem to match everything we’ve been hearing about the next flagship.
The images reveal that the infamous wooden back will be present on the upcoming model as well. As opposed to the Moto X, the Moto X+1 seems to feature a metallic ring around the sides, which is made of aluminum according to the source. Metal has been used on a lot of smartphones before so this is not exactly a novelty, although many of them come with either a full metallic body or a metallic back. Regardless, the aluminum ring works well with the wooden back and gives it a distinctive appearance if you ask me. Aside from that, the Moto X+1 looks quite identical to its predecessor, albeit somewhat bigger.
The reason for this is that the device is said to feature a bigger display, presumably measuring 5.1-inches and having 1080p resolution. The leaker didn’t say anything about the specs so all we have to go on are previous reports, which may or may not be 100% accurate. Moto X+1 is expected to come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 2.900 mAh battery, 12MP primary camera, and 5 MP secondary. The device will also come with 32GB of internal storage and will not feature a microSD card slot, although some sources claim that it will. All in all the upcoming flagship looks pretty good and is certainly an upgrade over the Moto X. We will also need to take the price into consideration to know if it will be worth a purchase, but there are no details regarding this aspect as of yet. We’re not sure about a release date either, although several sources say that we should expect the Moto X+1 and the Moto 360 to be released together later this year.
Moto X+1 will most likely be available through all the major US carriers once it launches. We’ll keep you updated the moment we learn something new so stay tuned.
